Robert Barrett Professor Robert T. Barrett has worked at Brigham Young University for over 31 years as a Visual Arts Professor and Associate Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communications. Barrett's illustrations during his time at BYU, have won over fifty awards. Most recently, two of Barrett's works were accepted into the May/June 2014 Issue of Communication Arts, a prestigious juried competition that then publishes the winners as "the best in visual communications" from around the world. Each winning entry also receives a personalized Award of Excellence, milled from solid aluminum. Barrett also had four illustrations accepted into the Society of Illustrators 52nd Illustration West Competition hosted in 2014. Of the four pieces, the book cover art for Christmas from Heaven won an Honorable Mention Award, and another illustration from the same book received the Bronze Award. Jeff Whiting Jeff V. Whiting is a Brigham Young University graduate from the Music Dance Theatre Program. In 2013, Whiting created Stage Write Software, an application designed for making theatre and dance design easier through the iPad. The app allows directors to replace the cumbersome paper "Show Bibles" with an electronic copy of all the needed paperwork and background files on a play or attraction. Stage Write Software also allows directors to design simple and clear stage directions for actors, music, and scenery. Apple selected Whiting and Stage Write, with the five other prestigious apps, to highlight on their annual documentary of the apps of the year. To read more on Stage Write, click here. Locke served as an artistic director in 2013 for the Hyundai Lens of Loyalty competition. BYU's submission, BYU Fans Loyalty, won first place out of the 25 finalists. In 2014, Locke co-founded Selfie Police, whose cause is to promote donating money to third world country college students when someone uses social media to post a selfie. The Purposes of the Wiki Fine Arts Faculty, 1925. 1. To create a record of the organizational roots of the College of Fine Arts and Communications at Brigham Young University and its departments, places, significant events, professors, students, alumni, friends, and benefactors – and how they have contributed over time toward fulfilling the mission of Brigham Young University. 2. To provide a forum in which college alumni can record their contributions and performances; their experiences with teaching and learning; the ways in which they were mentored and influenced as students in this college, and how they are using their acquired skills to further their careers. 3. To recognize all who have been associated with the college who have made significant, national and international contributions to their fields. 4. To allow those who have been associated with the college over the years to be co-authors and collaborators in writing the college history.
